Reading Books: A Habit To Practice Portable Magic

Reading Books: A Habit To Practice Portable Magic

Reading Books: A Habit To Practice Portable Magic

Books are magic! If you are an avid reader you would agree with me. If not so much, I hope to convince you at the end of this blog.

For most people, the only connection they have with books in life is as a student during education. They fail to cultivate a habit of reading. Maybe they haven’t found a good book or they just lose interest as they grow up.

Reading is a habit that comes naturally to some while it’s a difficult task for some wandering minds. In today’s world of kindles and easy book exchange apps, finding a book that you would love is not as difficult as it used to be. Yet, it can be easily said that reading is one habit that develops with time. But, most certainly you would be proud to have it.

For those looking to form a habit, you should follow the 21/90 rule. It goes as: To form a habit you must consistently do it (reading in our case) for 21 days, to make it a lifestyle, for 90 days.

Reading Books: A Habit To Practice Portable Magic

How and Where to Begin With?

Thinking about books, the first thing that strikes anyone’s mind is a library. Well, I beg to differ. In an era of the internet, it would be only wise to look for bookselling sites, book purchase apps, downloadable ebooks or even free ebooks.

The decision to begin reading books itself is like taking a big step in the right direction. So, the next step is to find the niche you enjoy the most. That will take up a lot of time but, I promise you got nothing to lose in the process.

There is a great quote that can serve as motivation.

“You lose yourselves in books, that’s where you find yourselves too.”

Choose a genre:

There is no limit to the niches you can explore when opting for a book. Enlisted are the different categories of books you must try to find what is it that captures your interest.

  • Biography
  • Fiction novels
  • Motivational
  • Love-Stories
  • Horror
  • Mystery, Detective stories
  • Thrillers
  • Science fiction
  • Comedy
  • Short stories
  • Old classics

A piece of advice would be don’t headstart with the classics. Though they are great literature and shouldn’t be missed by a true book-a-holic, they aren’t the ones you learn to read with.

Ideally, you should begin with reading books or novels that have fewer pages. When you manage to complete one, it gives you a feeling of accomplishment which motivates you to endeavor the next.

Make reading books a priority

Like most things in life, it is necessary that you prioritize the reading ritual. There are always going to be better or important things to do in the beginning. But, it is necessary that you give yourself that time.

Keep fix reading hours in a day and block that time. You will be surprised how you invested time doing some unnecessary tasks.

Socialize with like-minded people

A few years ago this statement would have sounded bizarre. Where do I find these people? Would be the immediate question. But, thankfully that’s not the case now. There are many events being organized everywhere. You can look up online on Facebook, Instagram, etc. that many book review clubs, book launches, book exchange events are conducted in the vicinity of your area.

You can even sign up for amazing apps online like BEE app. They are specially designed with the sole purpose of easy exchange of books. The more you find people with the same taste in books as you the more it will feed your interest.

And there is even a great possibility that you might be introduced to some spectacular books by your reading-buddies. This is a tried-and-tested method that will surely help you read a lot.

Ended One? Grab The Next!

Never break the reading cycle. There should always be a plan. “Books to read” is one list you will have to begin maintaining. Once you have formed the habit, you will know there are more books to read than you ever thought you wanted.

Books teach you to let go off the attachment, keep the lessons. You must have observed that there is no single “moral of the story” to the book you read. There is never a right or wrong. No one to challenge your faith. That is the beauty of a book. It does not challenge your faith, it only shapes it. Your perspective is what builds your beliefs.

Ask a bibliophile about the feeling at the end of a novel or even more, at the end of a series of novels. It creates strong emotions. Some relate to movies, television series, web-series nowadays, but, for some, it only takes a book.

Here is an inspirational quote –

You’re off to great places! Today is your day!  Your mountain is waiting. So, get on your way.

by Dr. Seuss, the marvelous writer, poet, and cartoonist.

Hence, BEE App is a one-stop app for all bookworms to realize their dream of living in a library.
